If you guys have ever asked me a recommendation for Indian food this is absolutely it. I've come here multiple times for parties, but I actually love love love to either order in or take out from here. The food is absolutely impeccable. Now it's not going to be a fancy dining experience but if you're looking for a great Indian food from Punjabi person that has great taste, this is it. You can't go wrong with anything you order. That's a simple as I can make it. The paneer tikka and chicken tikka were so good. Has to get the garlic naan of course. Not pictured is the Shahi paneer, saag paneer and chicken tikka masala. All were a chefs kiss!

Incredible Indian food. We loved everything we got, I'm upset I didn't go here sooner but can't wait to return! Butter chicken was fantastic, chicken biryani was so flavorful with a good amount of spice and heat. Garlic naan was also great, and the veggie samosas were super flaky and satisfying. It's priced well too. We ordered takeout on a Saturday and it was ready in 15 minutes and everything was really carefully packaged. Highly recommend this spot for great Indian food and great service.

For appetizers, we ordered the Chicken Seekh kabab and samosa w/ cholley. I highly recommend the chicken seekh kabab. It is on a grill and it is so delicious sizzled with pepper and onions. For the main dishes, we ordered chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, and lamb vandalo. The chicken tikka masala is to die for here. I couldn't have enough. The lamb vandalo is good but very very spicy. the lamb is tender and not gamy at all. Needless to say I was happy I ordered the mango lassi. We all loved the garlic nan and it went well with all the food. The location is a little secluded from the rest of the city, but the food here is pretty darn good. The restaurant itself feels like it's in the middle of renovations and feels closed. The server was so kind and very sweet. The food came quickly. I think the spicy here is very spicy. I love spicy food, but I struggled a little here.

Found this hidden gem punjabi Indian restaurant. Ordered butter chicken and tandoori roti. It comes with salad plate and mint chutney. Also try their famous chicken tikka masala it is amazing. Best indian place I have come across in new york.

We ordered a couple diffrent plates and everything was amazing, great customer service and delicious food. We walked in to order and it was done pretty quickly too

Stopped here after a gallery opening and although there was a wedding happening next door they were still open and serving. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, lamb vindalo and garlic nan. The dishes were delicious with the spice coming through. The proportions were well balanced for the price and we had leftovers that we boxed up. It's a great Indian restaurant in Long Island City.

This is such a great take out india spot! My family orders from here very regularly and for my native born Indian parents to approve of a place is quite unique! Food: we usually order some naans, onion kulcha's, and malai kofta! The malai kofta is so incredible! The gravy is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy! The naans are also extremely soft and well buttered! Price: relatively inexpensive for the amount of food you get! Definitely on par with other indian restaurants in the Astoria area but with more food! Service: good service!

Formally the Five Star Indian Diner (#1), Tadka is located in that warehouse'y, mechanic shop laden part of Long Island City. In spite of the name change, I'm not sure the place is actually under new ownership since the catering hall next door is still 5 Star. Couple that with the fact the place still basically looks the same as before, Tadka almost feels like a last minute name change. Just from looking outside, one might be surprised at how spacious it actually is inside. There are tables aplenty and ample space that stretches all the way in the back. The place has dark colors and some super interesting paintings that I am sure were brought in from the motherland. They definitely give the place some character. To be fair, the food is really more of a 3-3.5 star for me. The daily buffet is a nice gesture, at least for LIC, which still needs help in the Indian establishment choices. I've eaten so much subpar food from the buffet that I actually prefer the a la carte stuff directly from the menu. Lately, I've been noticing that even Indian patrons will seek out food from the menu than the stuff on the buffet line. I totally get it. And why? The buffet items get a bit dry and stale after the first hour or so and the replenishing seems a bit slow at times. When and if one were to order off the menu, their classics (tikka masala, palak paneer, dum aloo, etc.) are always a good choice. The portions won't be crazy large either, but like all Indian food, it's all quite satisfying. Customer service is solid, most of my waiters and general managers have been gracious with each coming experience here. I can see that due to the lack of foot traffic they're more of a delivery / take-out operation. The latter is especially true during times like this. Lastly, I saw a sign that said they have "rooftop parking." I'm not that curious to do it, but I do love the sentiment. I am hopeful to be back one day to try a little more. ___________ (#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz/five-star-bar-and-grill-long-island-city
